Graphic design means coming up with a unique “look and feel” of your store front that enhances your company’s brand identity and brand image. The uniqueness distinguishes your store from other millions of web sites on the Internet. It builds trust and cultivates loyalty. It can help capturing the attention of a visitor in 15 seconds. If not, the visitor will very likely leave for another appealing site just one click away. The design comes with two design concepts and two revisions for the selected concept.
Design a site usually involves the following steps:
1. Concept design
The graphic designer needs to know who you are, what industry you are in, what products you are selling, what colors you prefer, what is your competitor's design. Then, the designer will come up with the first version of the concept design which includes the structure of the layout, the header, the footer, the navigation bar and the content area. You can either accept or reject the concept design. If the design is accepted, then the designer will work on the detailed design. If the design is rejected, then you can give us your feedback and the designer will come up with a new design.
- Provide company name and business description. Which industry you are in? What products the site is selling? Please also provide the URL of your current or former site and the URL of your major competitors if available.
- Provide a company logo if you already have it. Let us know if you would like us to design a logo for you. The preferable formats for the logo are PSD, TIF, PNG with transparent background. If you don’t have your logo in the formats mentioned above provide it in any other format but with high resolution.
- What are the preferable colors to be used for the main scheme, the font and the background?
- If you have any examples of design works you like please provide us with URL links to them.
- List the names of menu buttons needed and menu layout (horizontal/vertical).
- Which monitor resolution (800 or 1024) would you prefer the site to be designed for? What are the preferred dimensions of the layout?
- Describe any additional requests.
2. Detail Design
The detail design phase elaborates the concept design and will produce a working PSD (Photoshop) files that can be used to skin the site.
The detail design phase also produces attractive images. If you already have many images that you would like to present on the web site, please send them to us. We can also buy high quality images for you from an image provider such corbis.com. We can then process the image using Photoshop to produce the special effects you desire.
It usually takes 2 to 5 days to come up with a concept design. Once the concept design is approved, it will take another 2 to 5 days to come up with the final detail design. If a revision is requested, it may take up to 2 to 4 days to come up with the revised version.
